Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large red apples
  • 1 3/4 cups apple juice
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or extract)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Core and chop the apples into large chunks. In a large pot, combine the chopped apples with apple juice and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Mix well to enhance flavors.
  3. Use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth. Alternatively, transfer carefully to a standing blender.
  4. Return the blended mixture to the pot and cook uncovered over medium heat for 30-45 minutes until thickened. Stir frequently.
  5. Once thickened to your liking, serve warm or store for later use.
