  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown 3/4 pound of extra lean ground beef with 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1 chopped onion for about 10 minutes.
  2. Drain excess liquid and add in 1 can of chopped stewed tomatoes, 1 cup of beef broth, 2 tablespoons of chili powder, 1 teaspoon each of cumin and oregano, and 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Stir well.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let simmer for about an hour.
  4. Add in 1 can of rinsed pinto beans and 1/2 teaspoon salt; cook for an additional 15 minutes.
