  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes or until the beef is browned. Drain excess liquid.
  2. Stir in chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Simmer for about an hour over low heat.
  3. Add rinsed pinto beans and salt; cook for an additional 15 minutes.
  4. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
