  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil for spraying

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth to create a roux.
  3. Gradually add milk while whisking; season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  4. Stir in mozzarella and Parmesan until melted; fold in cooked macaroni.
  5. Allow mixture to cool for about 15–20 minutes before shaping into balls.
  6. Roll each ball in egg wash then coat with breadcrumbs.
  7. Spray lightly with vegetable oil and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for about 8–10 minutes until golden brown.
