  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ½ to 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ cup mashed banana
  • Filling: 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, ½ cup packed light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, and 2 large bananas (thinly sliced)
  • Topping: ¼ cup heavy cream, 4 ounces cream cheese, 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1½ cups powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine lukewarm milk and melted butter; add sugar and yeast. Let sit until bubbly. Mix in mashed bananas.
  2. Gradually add flour and salt while stirring until a soft dough forms; knead gently until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about an hour).
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread soft butter evenly over it.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and sliced bananas on top; roll tightly into a log and slice into about 12 pieces.
  6. Place rolls cut-side up in a greased baking dish; let rise again for an hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), pour warmed heavy cream over the rolls, then bake until golden brown (25-30 minutes).
  8. For frosting, mix softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth; frost warm rolls.
